Mushroom compost blended with mulch is a nutrient-rich soil amendment designed to improve soil structure, moisture retention, and overall plant health. This blend works especially well for enhancing heavy clay soils and sandy soils while also providing weed suppression and erosion control benefits.

The added mulch and wood fibers help create a protective top layer that retains moisture, regulates soil temperature, and gradually breaks down to improve soil quality over time.

NOTE: Fresh Mushroom Compost is not screened and will contain some debris mixed in. This is common with all unscreened mushroom compost. If you are looking for a clean, screened material, shop our Premium Leafgro Compost.

Important Considerations

• Mushroom compost may contain higher salt levels, so avoid planting delicate seedlings directly into pure compost.
• Best results are achieved when mixed with existing soil rather than used alone. A 30%–50% blend is commonly recommended.
• This material is often slightly alkaline and may not be ideal for acid-loving plants such as blueberries or azaleas.
