RECOMMENDED USES & APPLICATION RATES
Turf and Sod:
Establishment - For bed preparation or to establish a stand of turf, apply 2 to 3 cubic yards of Advantage Compost per 1,000 sq.ft. of existing soil. Mix well, to a depth of 4 to 6 inches.
Renovation – to renovate existing turf, apply 0.5 to 1 cubic yards of compost per 1,000 ft 2 . Spread uniformly throughout existing turf. Irrigate evenly avoiding runoff.
Sod - For sod installation apply approximately 0.75 cubic yards per 1,000 sq. ft., spread evenly over prepared soil prior to laying sod. Irrigate evenly avoiding runoff.
Landscaping and Planting - For soil improvement before planting, mix one-third Advantage Compost, to two-thirds soil by volume in the planting bed. Mix to depth of 4 to 6 inches. To fertilize or topdress established plantings, evenly apply 1 cubic yard of Advantage Compost per 1,000 sq. ft.
Topsoil
To produce a high quality topsoil, mix one- third compost, to two-thirds soil, by volume. Test resultant salt levels and adjust accordingly.
Container Media and Potting Mixes
For nursery container growing media and potting mixes, blend equal parts of Advantage Compost with other recipe components (i.e., peat, vermiculite, perlite, screened styrofoam, pine bark fines or sandy loam) to a maximum rate of 33%, based on desired salt levels. Water thoroughly after planting.
Weed Suppressant and Moisture Retention
Apply a 2"-3", uniform layer of Advantage Chips on surface of beds and around the base of trees and shrubs. Repeat applications as necessary to suppress weeds and provide enhanced moisture retention.
